Every person deserves a place to flourish. Bennett’s Bridge grew from the shared vision of Anna Marie Champion and Lisa Bennett: a welcoming community where adults with disabilities can build friendships, discover strengths, and experience the pride of learning something new.

When Anna Marie and Lisa first walked into the former Freedom Mill building, they saw more than a space. They imagined meaningful days shaped around individual interests—days filled with connection, practical learning, creativity, and opportunities to take part in community life.

Our name honors Lisa Bennett and her years of advocacy for the disability community in Forsyth County. Her work has opened doors, built relationships, and helped ensure that the people she serves have a voice. The “bridge” carries that legacy forward: a connection between the care that brought us here and the possibilities ahead.

The road to opening has brought challenges, but our guiding belief has remained steady: every person deserves to be seen, heard, and respected. That care extends to families and caregivers seeking guidance, reassurance, and connections of their own.

We are building more than a program. We are building a community where people can belong—and a future we can shape together.
